Dawson's daughter, Charlotte, 16, had invited a group of friends to the eight-bedroomed property, called The Bumbles, in Lytham, Lancs, to celebrate getting six GCSEs.
However, the occasion quickly spiralled out of control as hordes of gatecrashers arrived after hearing about the party on the social networking websites. Officers were called to the detached house, which was left to Dawson's widow Tracy, by concerned neighbours and arrived to find music blaring from the house and drunken youths vomiting in the garden.
Others were running riot through rooms left as a shrine to the comedian, while at one point, some youths who had been ejected from the party were seen trying to break back in through the windows.
It took police more than an hour to eject the 100 or so guests and halt the party, which had been organised for Charlotte and her friends from the fee paying King Edward and Queen Mary School.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "We had calls from neighbours in the area at 10pm that a large number of teenagers had gathered at this property and a party had got out of hand.
"Officers attended and by 11.20pm peace had been restored and the young people were returned to their various homes."
It is understood that a friend of the Dawson family had tried to eject some partygoers himself before police were called by neighbours.
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "To call this a party is the very essence of understatement it was more like a scene from the final days of the fall of the Roman Empire."
